Prevention and Treatment protocol for Osteoporosis

Prevention plays a key role in osteoporosis. It is easier to prevent it than it is to treat it once it has developed. The facts are that 1:3 females will develop osteoporosis in their lifetime. Fifty percent of those women will suffer a fracture in their lifetime and 50% of those who do will die within the first year of that fracture. Many others will be permanently disabled from their fracture.

Recommendations for prevention of osteoporosis include:

  • Creatine: increases bone density.
  • Wearing a weighted vest when walking/working around the house: studied in menopausal women, improves balance and decreases fracture risk.
  • Fortibone bioactive multi-collagen peptides: taking 5g per day for 5 years found to improve spine and femur measurement, reducing fracture risk.
  • Estrogen improves bone mass and prevents osteoporosis.
